A woman embarks on a surreal journey through her personal history
with the help of a friendly, animated teddy bear.
About
Of May is a film about love, loss and memory. It’s a journey through the thoughts and feelings of a woman who has nothing left to do but ruminate.
Her life was full of love and hope and fun. And it shows in the thoughts she shares with her animated teddy bear companion who accompanies her on a journey through her personal past.
Inspiration
Director Brit Kewin and writer Nicholas Kewin are siblings who helplessly watched their grandmother’s rapid descent into dementia. Of May is about an elderly woman in the throes of dementia, and while it’s completely fictional, their grandmother’s story lives inside it.
Aging is universal. Dementia is a common threat. This is a surreal vision of one woman in the early stages on her journey toward oblivion.
